El Raval - Career Carme to Nou de la Rambla
The third area of the Gothic quarter is more colourful, but not on the tourist route.

On the right hand side of the Ramblas the streets lead into an area known as el Raval. This is an area of the city in transformation, with an influx of immigrants coinciding with the city councils urban renewal program and the opening up of the Rambla del Raval. There are many bars and restaurants hidden away in this area. Nou de la Rambla runs through to Parallel (Sala Apolo) and has a number of interesting bars along the way. The London Bar is a classic for a late night drink, occasionally with live music. In Career Sant Pau you’ll find La Confiteria (No. 128), Bar 68/The Kitchen (No. 68), another bar with Modernist décor, and Marsella (No. 64)– for a more Bohemian atmosphere and a chance to try their absinthe. Dos Trece in Career Carme is also a popular choice, being a cross between restaurant and bar. Rita Blue in Plaça Sant Augusti is a good alternative inside or sitting at the terrace bar. One of the original Irish bars is found on Career Unío – The Quiet Man.
